Upper Lateral Incisor with Post & Core
Upper Right Lateral Incisor (UR2)
Clinical Radiographs

Case Details
Patient
Female, early 60s
Presentation
Upper right lateral incisor with a large failing restoration and intermittent swelling at the gum line. The tooth needed both root canal treatment and structural reinforcement.
The Challenge
The tooth had lost significant structure, leaving insufficient dentine to support a crown on its own. Root canal treatment needed to be combined with a post and core to anchor the final restoration.
Treatment
Root canal completed first, then a fibre post was cemented into the canal to provide internal support. A composite core was built up around the post, giving the restorative dentist a solid foundation for a crown.
Outcome
Infection cleared, swelling resolved. The tooth was successfully restored with a ceramic crown and remains fully functional.
