Guided by the 3D map and a dental operating microscope, infected tissue and the end of the root are removed. The root end is sealed with a biocompatible material to prevent re-infection, and the gum is closed with sutures. The procedure lasts about 60 to 90 minutes. A follow-up visit is scheduled about a week later to check healing.

After the procedure, some swelling and mild discomfort are normal. Swelling typically peaks around 2 to 3 days. Use an ice pack on the cheek for 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off. Pain is usually managed with standard anti inflammatory medicine. Eat soft foods for a few days and avoid chewing near the surgical site. Avoid strenuous activity for the first 24 to 48 hours. Complications are rare but important to watch for.
